Acting
Our BFA in Acting is an intensive program for Theatre and Performance or Theatre Education and Performance students who decide, after completing the Actor Training Core, that they crave a more singular focus on the craft of acting. If accepted to this audition-only program, you will spend your junior and senior years in 14 hours a week of structured training building more trust and connection through ensemble work, and developing a strong individual focus on the craft of acting itself.
Get Involved in the Theatre Scene
Our campus is home to a vibrant student theatre scene with 30 student performance organizations, including Acappellics Anonymous, Emerson Comedy Workshop, Emerson Shakespeare Society, Emerson Urban Dance Theatre, Flawless Brown, RareWorks Theatre Company, and many more.
Theatre Education
For those who believe in the transformative power of theatre to shape society and change lives, our BFA in Theatre Education invites you to explore innovative uses of theatre in a variety of educational settings. You will receive a strong grounding in the liberal arts, explore the fundamentals of the dramatic arts, and gain a broad array of educational tools that can be applied to a variety of potential careers, including work in professional theatres, community outreach, and, of course, the classroom.
Theatre Education and Performance
One of the most unique undergraduate programs in the country, Theatre Education and Performance program combines the actor training of our Theatre and Performance BFA with the teacher training of Theatre Education. Like a ready-made double major, this four-year program will prepare you to work as a teaching artist upon graduation.
