You’ll learn and understand human communication development, disorders, and differences across the human lifespan. You will gain a broad perspective of the social and scientific aspects of human communication through courses in American Sign Language, Statistics, Psychology, and Science.
Combine your interests and define your unique path by taking courses and minors in the following:

By the time you graduate, you will have completed at least 25 hours of guided clinical observation either at the Robbins Center; through specific courses; or through your own external work, internship, or volunteer experience.
Students majoring in Communication Disorders are also advised to take the following courses to fulfill General Education requirements and/or meet the academic requirements for future certification by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association:
- One Biological Science course
- One Physical Science course
- One Statistics course
- One Social Sciences or Behavioral Sciences course
Transfer students entering Emerson later than the first semester of their junior year should expect to enroll for at least one additional term to meet degree requirements.
