APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
Emerson has a test-optional policy for admission. As such, students may elect to submit their application with standardized test scores or not. Our goal is to allow you to put your best foot forward throughout the admission process.
Additional application credentials maybe are required for some applicants depending on their intended area of study. Please pay particular attention to any additional requirements for your major when submitting your application.
Students may be required to submit an approved English Proficiency exam if they are an applicant who is not currently completing their fourth consecutive year of secondary study at an institution that uses English as its primary language of instruction or are from countries where English is not the national or primary language.
Statistics and Minimum Score Requirements
Average GPA: 3.64
SAT Middle 50% Composite: 1280-1400
TOEFL Minimum: 95 (with a minimum of 20 in each section)
IELTS Minimum: 7.0
PTE Academic Minimum: 65
CAE or CPE Minimum: 185
Duolingo Minimum: 125
Transfer Credit Information
Emerson grants transfer credit for:
- Advanced Placement: Scores of 4 or 5 will receive 4 credits in the areas of the exam.
- International Baccalaureate: HL exams with scores of 4, 5, 6, or 7 (with the exception of Language A/English, where a score of 6 or 7 is required) or SL exams with a score of 7.
Additionally, official results for the following exams can be evaluated for transfer credit:

- European Baccalaureate
- French Baccalaureate
- Swiss Maturité
