CURRICULUM OVERVIEW
First-Years
An intensive yearlong seminar introduces students to the interdisciplinary study of literature and culture of the Americas. This team-taught seminar emphasizes the development of writing, oral presentation, and research skills while providing a platform for discussion, exploration, and debate. The year culminates with a 25- to 30-page research paper on a topic of the student’s choosing.
Sophomores
Students are introduced to the interdisciplinary study of science and philosophy with the objective of engaging in critical thinking and research. Different areas are examined each year, such as evolutionary biology, environmental biology, and epistemology and logic.
Juniors
An interdisciplinary pre-thesis seminar gives students the opportunity to select their Senior Honors Thesis topic and begin their research. Juniors also select an upper-level interdisciplinary seminar from a variety of topics such as Global Social Movements, Africana Thought and Practice, and Peace and Social Justice, among others.
Seniors
To cap off their work in the Honors Program, students complete their Honors Thesis. They will enroll in a small thesis-writing seminar led by their thesis advisor, working alongside their peers to develop their ideas, deepen their analysis, and further polish their writing skills.
