Heart of a Lion

Emerson is a place of academic excellence, passion, and teamwork—all of which extend far beyond the classroom and into our 14 NCAA Division III teams. Student-athletes at Emerson strike a balance between their commitments on the court and field and their academic life, staying competitive as both athletes and students.

NEWMAC

As a part of the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC), the Emerson Lions compete against Babson College, Clark University, Coast Guard Academy, MIT, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, Springfield College, Wellesley College, Wheaton College, and WPI, making for healthy competition on all levels. The Lions compete in Baseball, Basketball, Cross-Country, Lacrosse, Soccer, Softball, Tennis, and Volleyball.

Fitness Center

In our Fitness Center, you can work out on your own or create a personalized exercise program with the help of our knowledgeable staff. You’ll have the opportunity to participate in a variety of weekly group fitness classes.

Bobbi Brown and Steven Plofker Gym

The Bobbi Brown and Steven Plofker Gym, our home court, occupies several levels of the 14-story Max Mutchnick Campus Center and Piano Row Residence Hall. In addition to an NCAA tournament–sized basketball and volleyball court and seating for several hundred fans, the athletic facility contains locker rooms, office space for coaches and Athletics staff, and a skybox that houses the Lions’ collection of well-earned trophies.

Lester Rotch Field

The Lester Rotch Field is just a mile from campus and serves as the practice and playing field for many of Emerson’s sports teams. Outfitted with FieldTurf synthetic surface, an electronic scoreboard, lighting for night games, and a brick field house with locker rooms, an athletic trainer’s room, and equipment storage, this is home base for many of our victories.

A Note on Health and Safety

Athletics are an essential part of our considerations in developing a safe and healthy campus during COVID-19. Schedule, availability of facilities and spaces, and participation in athletic teams and activities are subject to changes, and we will continue to update the community as information is available.
