Exceptional learning opportunities
The Honors Program provides an interdisciplinary and collaborative learning experience for undergraduate students of exceptional ability. Students benefit from an integrated liberal arts core curriculum with specialized study in professional fields of communication and the arts through interdisciplinary seminars, collaborative research projects, special lectures and events, and faculty-directed independent study. Each year 50 applicants of exceptional ability are invited to join the Honors Program.
The Emerson Prison Initiative (EPI) provides a Bachelor of Arts degree pathway to incarcerated people in Massachusetts. Its mission is to democratize access to education for those who have been historically marginalized or otherwise unable to attend college. EPI students work toward a Bachelor of Arts degree in Media, Literature, and Culture from Emerson College, with a minor in Economics.
Students interested in engaging with EPI can enroll in the EPI Co-Curricular (IN347) where they work with a faculty mentor to research topics related to mass incarceration and prison education, and apply that research to projects in support of EPI’s mission.
