A Curriculum Across Continents
The learning environment of the Global BFA in Film Art will help you expand your intercultural competence and communication abilities, cause you to challenge your own assumptions and frames of reference, and grant you new perspectives — in life, in learning, and maybe through your camera lens.
During your studies, you will spend:
- Three academic years (fall and spring) in Paris. Situated in the 17th arrondissement, Paris College of Art provides a mix of film and fine art studio learning experiences through which students hone their artistic craft. Classes are taught in English, but you’ll also take classes to develop your French language skills, study liberal arts, and delve deep into filmmaking, mixed media and fine art studio practice over the course of three academic years.
- One summer at Kasteel Well in the Netherlands. At Emerson’s beloved Kasteel Well, located in the picturesque Dutch countryside, you will take courses in art history and documentary production, while experiencing field trips to several European cities, museums, and cultural sites.
- Two summers in Boston. The BFA ends on Emerson’s Boston campus, where you’ll use the city as a backdrop for your creative endeavors in film and media. You will immerse yourself in a hands-on film education using industry-level equipment and soundstages throughout campus.
