A Bold, Borderless Emerson
We prepare the global leaders of tomorrow by giving our students access to an immersive, international, and civically minded academic experience. Emerson students seek not only to become modern forces in their fields, but also to use the skills they gain here to engage with the global community.
We’re proud to offer them our state-of-the-art facilities in Boston, Los Angeles, and the Netherlands; degree-granting programs in Paris, Switzerland, and Australia; and internship and study abroad programs with partners across industries and nations. We believe Emerson students deserve a truly global education.
To prepare the next generation of idealistic, media-savvy students to bring their stories to the world, we seek to provide a bold, borderless education and expand global initiatives and programs.
Global Pathways Programs
Emerson’s Global Pathways programs allow students to utilize a summer or intersession to explore a different country, earn course credits, gain a global perspective, and apply their classroom learning to a real-world context. Examples include: Public Diplomacy in Rosarito, Mexico; Prague Summer Film Program; Writing Place and Distance in Ballyvaughan, Ireland; Salzburg Global Media Academy; From Shakespeare to Stand-up in London; and Sweden’s Globally Influential Creative Economy in Stockholm.
Kasteel Well, the Netherlands
Acquired in 1988, our 14th-century castle is a home away from home for approximately 80 Emerson students per semester. It provides them the opportunity to live and learn in Europe while taking a variety of liberal arts courses, exploring the culture of surrounding European cities, and developing a broader global perspective.
Let’s Go Fund
The Let’s Go Fund makes it possible for students of all economic backgrounds to participate in Emerson’s summer Global Pathways Programs. It may be awarded to cover airfare and travel funds (above financial aid for tuition).
Global BFA in Film Art, Paris
Through a groundbreaking partnership with Paris College of Art, students may apply for an opportunity to study the art of film in the City of Light itself. Our innovative, intercontinental joint BFA degree program in Film Art draws on the expertise and reputations of both Paris College of Art and Emerson College, and spans locations in Paris, the Netherlands, and Boston. In this one-of-a-kind program, students benefit from the highest international standard of film and art education within an American academic framework. They combine skill sets from the fine art and filmmaking worlds to create everything from independent and experimental films to gallery installations, web series, and public media art.
Global BA in Business of Creative Enterprises, Australia
In partnership with the International College of Management, Sydney (ICMS) in Australia, Emerson is offering a uniquely global Business of Creative Enterprises (BCE) program that takes full advantage of the resources and premium locations offered by both institutions. Different from the flagship Boston-based BCE program, this program allows students to spend full semesters and summers in Sydney and Boston—with the option to apply for a semester in Los Angeles—taking classes with top faculty in business, management, and the creative industries, while becoming immersed in the life of companies and organizations from Australia and the US through intensive internship programs.
