Program Highlights
- The Journalism and Media Innovation program is 100% online and asynchronous. With no live class times, you can complete your degree after work, on the weekends, or whenever works best for you.
- Receive 1-on-1 mentoring from seasoned journalism and communication professionals.
- Waive 4 credits if you have 5+ years of industry experience or a bachelor’s in journalism. If you qualify for this Experienced Journalist track, you’ll complete your graduate degree in 28 credits, saving you time and money.
- Complete your degree in one year full-time or two years part-time.
- Select electives that align with your goals and values so you can become a multidisciplinary journalist or communication professional. To prepare for your unique career, you may add electives from other graduate programs, such as Business of Creative Enterprises or Publishing and Writing.
- Finish your degree with a capstone portfolio or a semester-long internship at a journalism or media organization.
Curriculum
The Journalism and Media Innovation program consists of 4 required courses and 3 electives of your choosing. Because much of your coursework will be electives, you can personalize your degree to meet your professional goals.
Required Courses (4 credits each)
- Foundations of Journalism and Media Creation
○ Students in the Experienced Journalist track waive this course requirement.
